This work surely does not pretend to provide a comprehensive documentation of the historic and artistic heritage of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, but quite simply it is intended to offer a description of the universities of Modena, Reggio Emilia, and Mantua to all those who are interested in finding out more about the university life, for a better understanding of the organisation and scope of our university urban environment.
We decided to integrate the history of the University with an evocative and rich photographic exhibition accompanying the story of the places of learning and single buildings in which the Departments, Libraries, Laboratories, Research Centres, and Museums are currently based.
I am extremely grateful to all Colleagues and Collaborators who put all their efforts into this initiative with great sensitivity and expertise, and of course to the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Modena, in the person of its President, Eng. Paolo Cavicchioli, for the indispensable sponsorship offered.
Angelo O. Andrisano Honorable Rector 1.11. 2013 - 31.
