This Baedekers Indien is the only edition ever published about India and only in German in 1914. However it is much more than a guide to India. Actually it covers most of the European possessions in south and south east Asia as well as the Far East that were accessible to European tourists at the time. As the full title reads Indian, Ceylon, VorderIndien, Birma, Die Malayische Halbinsel, Siam, Java. I-LXXI 1-358. Both the binding with its bright red colours and gilt title on the back and front are as new, in perfect condition, as is the textblock with all the maps, plans and architectural plans. It is obvious that this book never made it to India. It appears to never having Ben read. All maps look like never being opened. It also comes with the dust jacket Although the paper of the Baedeker dust jackets never were of the same quality as the guidebooks.
