David Battie, the well-known Antiques Roadshow contributor, has completely re-written and updated his very successful Price Guide to 19th and 20th Century British Porcelain.

This new edition, covering one of today's most popular collectable areas, makes available to the collector the latest information resulting from research into the major factory archives over the last fifteen years.

The popularity of Victorian porcelain with interior designers has had its effect on values and the author discusses how this factor, as well as condition and damage, can influence prices. A regularly published price revision list to accompany this book will ensure that the reader remains aware of changes in the market.

The highly successful format of dividing objects into collecting areas rather than factories has been retained, with sections on bowls, figures, vases, etc. An index is provided for those interested in the output of a particular factory. Finally, the vexed question of fakes and forgeries is also considered and a number of illustrated examples are included.

With 472 black and white and 64 colour illustrations, this informative book will be essential reading for auctioneers, dealers and all collectors interested in porcelain, whether buying from salerooms, antique shops or car boot sales.

David Battie left art school and became a graphic designer before starting a new career as a porter at Sotheby's in 1967. He worked in several departments, including heading the Ceramics and Oriental Works of Art Department at Sotheby's Belgravia since its inception in 1971. He became a director in 1976.

He is the author of The Price Guide to 19th and 20th Century British Pottery and has contributed articles and chapters to a variety of publications.

His regular appearances on the Antiques Roadshow, since the very first series in 1979, as well as on numerous other radio and television programmes, have made him a popular media figure. He Lectures on a wide range of topics, both in the UK and overseas, to NADFAS, antiques societies, business executives, charities and other groups.
