Sophia Vari, as is natural, has also reaped the fruits of this great art of her ancestors, the art of the Cyclades with the mysterious simplicity of Cycladic figurines. Surely she did not look back to Cycladic primogeniture to reproduce primary forms and shapes. Her aim was to recreate and penetrate the spirit of their expressive clarity and transparency, in order to comprehend the simplicity of the structure and to blow new life into these forms through the spirit of her own creative era and the values and demands of contemporary sculpture.
This tribute is an overdue homage offered by the prominent Sophia Vari to her spiritual birthplace.
