The majestic and fascinating Thun Castle dominates the surrounding landscape from a privileged observation point at the foot of the Alps. Situated in the Val di Non, in the northern part of the Trento region, it is close to one of the main connection points between Italy and the north. For eight centuries it was the residence of the Thun noble family, one of the most important families of the Trento and Central European area, and it was the background to the history of an entire territory. The vast monumental complex, with its turreted palace, well-constructed fortifications and extensive gardens, represents a unique example of a noble residence, entirely furnished and rich in valuable collections.
Inhabited continuously by the Thun counts until 1982, the castle was acquired in 1992 by the Autonomous Province of Trento and has undergone long and extensive renovation and restoration involving both the architectural structure and the works of art.
In this very unique museum the visitor will have the opportunity to discover a prestigious and captivating residence and to be immersed in an important chapter in European history.
