Au fil des ans, cet artiste a créé une oeuvre riche qui lui a permis d'acquérir une large reconnaissance internationale.
Ce catalogue, publié à l'occasion de l'exposition Pierre Alechinsky - post Cobra au musée Cobra d'art moderne d'Amstelveen, reprend quatrevingt- dix dessins et peintures de la période entre 1960 et 2016. L'historien de l'art français Dominique Radrizzani se penche entre autres sur les remarques marginales qui constituent une partie essentielle de l'oeuvre d'Alechinsky depuis le milieu des années soixante.
L'artiste lui-même écrit sur sa relation avec les membres du mouvement Cobra aux alentours de la période de la création de ce groupe international en 1948.
