The journal is addressed to the ANPE's members, those whose interests lie in the field of pedagogy, professors, academic researchers, social workers, administrators, politicians, students, interns and all those who in various ways are involved in the day-by-day dimension of education and training.
Professione Pedagogista was set up in 1994 as a "newsletter" to inform members of the Association's activities; in 1995 it was transformed into a "bulletin" and was circulated for a year as a supplement to the journal l'Ente d'Ingrandimento.
In recent years, the Bulletin has not only fulfilled the function of informing members on the activities and projects undertaken and carried out by the Association.
The growing number of members, the increasingly high-level role of ANPE, which is widely acknowledged in various ways by state organisms and the desires expressed by the members have prompted the Board of the Journal to define a new project, aimed at creating a journal with a higher scientific profile, devoted to research, professional training, dissemination of pedagogy in a cultural context and the theorisation of on-going concrete experiences.
Professione Pedagogista aims to build up new sphere of pedagogical "knowledge", through the validation of experiences regarded as positive and through operational models derived from pedagogical theories. It is not only act as a means for the circulation of ideas, but above all promotes research and identification of the methodologies best suited to the acquisition of knowledge on the increasing educational problems of our time, in the endeavour to devise tools capable of interpreting, describing and giving a rigorous account of these themes. The journal offers pedagogical studies on the "educational relation" between the educator and the learner, between parents and children, among adults, and between adults and children, with reference to situations both from daily life and from those encountered in teaching/learning. In addition, it presents investigations on the role of pedagogic management in the society of communication.
