The journal is the official publication of the Association of Italian Professors of Philosophy (A.D.I.F.). While maintaining continuity with the approach adopted so far, the journal, established in 1984, is to be restyled in 2002, conscious of the prestige and distinguished contribution to cultural reflection achieved through its effective and widely acknowledged presence in the context of Italian philosophical debate. Each issue contains a monographic section, an educational section, reviews, notes on the life and activity of the A.D.I.F. The journal aims to offer a useful service to the public in the sphere of philosophy and in particular to teachers within the educational and university system, providing materials and tools for study and research. It is noted for its position with regard to "Christian philosophy". From this vantage point, it engages in critical and constructive interaction with the most wide-ranging proposals and tendencies that make up the philosophical and cultural background, encouraging fertile exchange of ideas and opening up the field to a very broad range of contributions, communication and dialogue.
