The periodical "Psychical Research - Studies in Parapsychology, Survival and about sacred" was founded by Dr. Felice Masi in 1994 after a previous experience of directing an analogous periodical, "Review of Psychical Studies", which has now ceased publication, and 25 years' experience of study and research in the field of parapsychology. During this period he met some of the most famous Italian and foreign personalities in this field: Servadio, Bernardi, Salvadori, Nestler, Cassoli, Comin, Crosa, di Simone, De Boni, Mengoli, Istomin, Bender, Tenhaeff.
The editorial project of the periodical centres on a rigorous, in-depth study of paranormal phenomena, on which there is an open debate among the public and scientists on account of the extraordinary nature of the supposed facts; a study not limited to the description of the fact but extended to the analysis of the event and research into the laws governing it.
Another field with which the magazine is concerned is survival, because many paranormal phenomena appear to derive from such a dimension, so that a study of these phenomena and this possibility cannot be overlooked.
Parapsychology is, however, a kind of knowledge dealing with man in is entirety, his inner nature and his soul, because it is from these that such phenomena arise. Thus, slowly but surely, the observation and study widen to include cultural anthropology, shamanism, the history of religions, mystical phenomena and mysticism, hermetic and wisdom doctrines, oriental and western philosophies and the most recent discoveries of physics on the nature of the universe: because man is all this and all this his soul.
But, above all study and observation are focussed on depth psychology: it is this which investigates, and whose laws govern, the products of man's mind and the manifestations of his soul, and thus also paranormal phenomena; parapsychology is part of psychology.
"Psychical Research" wants to investigate all this and this is the object of its studies; this is the extraordinary world which it offers to its readers.
