Founded in 1990 as a newsletter for the projects and topics of study of the Accademia Jaufré Rudel, L'Unicorno rapidly developed into a journal dedicated to historical research in the fields of culture, music, art, literature, and allegory. The first series (1990 - 1995) was issued quarterly and since 1997 has been issued twice a year.
The title, L'Unicorno, recalls one of the more complex symbols of the middle ages, to which we would like to do honor: our journal is created with the mind, being a scientific review and above all a prudent exercise of intelligence, but it is also concerned with passion and love, symbolized by the hidden ruby from which stems the long and twisted horn of this mythical animal.
