The Bollettino di Storia delle Scienze Matematiche was founded in 1981 by the Unione Matematica Italiana, which published it until 2000. Since 2001 the Bollettino is property of "Il Giardino di Archimede", who inherited it from the Unione when the latter entered as an Associate of the Museum. The new series will be published by the Istituti Editoriali e Poligrafici Internazionali.
The Bollettino publishes research papers relative to the history of Mathematics in its broader sense, including the History of Mechanics, of theoretical Astronomy, of natural Philosophy, and of all the disciplines traditionally included within the mathematical sciences. Continuing the tradition of Italian mathematical historiography, a special attention is reserved to the edition of unpublished manuscripts, relevant for the History of Mathematics, as well as of correspondence, bibliographical essays, archive's research, and in general of tools for the historical research.
The languages of the Bollettino are Italian, English, French, German and Latin. For the evaluation of the papers received, the Bollettino relies on an international network of anonymous referees.
