Salvezza delle anime e discipline dei corpi

Hroughout the modern centuries - but particularly in the XVIth - was kindled a very lively debate on Baptism where motifs of a theological, but also antropological and philosophical order merged.

Under the guidance of an eminent scholar of xvith century religious history, Adriano Prosperi, a series of seminars and researches has been held at the Scuola Normale Superiore, which by singling out original points of view contribute to throwing new light on a real archetype for human and religious construction in western man. The volume, strongly uniform from the conceptual and systematic point of view, introduced by a full, innovative essay by Adriano Prosperi, collects contributions by scholars, largely already well-known, from recent generations.
