Orbiting the Biennial are concurrent events (music, fashion, cinema, theatre, dance) which involve the entire city and attract visitors from all over the world.
The theme of the third edition, directed like all previous editions by Luigi Settembrini, is water.
Increasingly rare and precious, the newest form of fuel for a thirsty and not too distant future, water is the subject of a global warning, delivered by the UNO in 2000. Numerous protagonists of the national and international art scene offer their idea of water and meditations on how to improve a situation which is turning into an emergency. The Valencia Biennial thus intends to help raise society's awareness about this irreplaceable source of life on the planet and the very metaphor of existence.
