This important publication is the first to offer an overview of the versatility of Berlage as a designer of tools. Although Berlage is especially renowned as an architect, he also proved his worth in the field of applied arts. In 1900 he was one of the founders of the Amsterdam furniture-store 't Binnenhuis, where many of his designs were carried out. He was also active in industry. Well-known are his designs for Leerdam Glassworks and for the Holland earthenware factory in Utrecht, where his tableware was manufactured.
