Mimmo Rotella-who is more than 80 years old-is an extraordinarily active and dynamic man. The artist from Calabria became famous in the mid-fifties, when he invented the décollage technique, the overlapping of advertising or cinematographic manifests taken from walls. As a hardworking experimenter, he later created the effaçage, which literally means "deletion". It is a very particular technique with which the artist partially cancels images taken from popular magazines. The volume includes thirty effaçages created in the '70s but published for the first time, with texts between the satirical and the grotesque by Tiziano Scarpa, one of the most skillful and valuable writers of the present publishing world. The book becomes a kind of cultural and unusual literary-visual short circuit.
