This is the third of a series of four books on the rich history of the Dutch house, based on buildings owned by the Hendrick de Keyser Association. In the book on Zeeland and Zuid-Holland Professor Meischke devotes ten chapters to the development of groundplans and architectural styles in the relevant area. These are followed by detailed and lavishly illustrated descriptions of the 'De Onbeschaamde', a 17th-century mansion in Dordrecht, and two large 18th-century houses in Middelburg. Attention is also drawn to three important Middelburg houses belonging to the association which were destroyed during World War Two.
