Monica Di Rocco got it well, an art therapist who has been active since her debut as a painter. While she was next to suffering minorities (women, children, handicapped), she tapped into her professional skills to shape, thanks to her human qualities, a militancy at the service of migrants who are clinging to the French-Italian border.
This is how, in a process of creative synergy, she offered migrants an acknowledgment giving them the opportunity to rebuild their identity and contextually offered art therapy the opportunity to be comforted, in its dimension of technique with relational, reconstructive and preventive objectives of the abandoned feeling.
Disrupting her quiet status as an artist to take care of others, this is what Monica Di Rocco has lived and been able to exploit so that she can enhance her experience in this book.
Graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts of Turin as a set designer, she creates her studio of plastic arts, a discipline that, in parallel, she teaches at the Middle School ; therefore she develops her activity with a specialized training in the field of art therapy and collaborated with a private study in Ventimiglia. The particularly dramatic situation experienced by the many migrants stranded before her eyes on the border with France prompted her to carry out, within the "P.e.n.e.l.o.p.e." association, a work of listening and reconstruction of identity on the basis, in particular, of their artistic productions.
Art therapy in favour of migrants affected by psychotrauma is the subject of this book.
In the relational space in which highly symbolic objects are built, the fact of being surprised by the drawing of the boat adrift on the road of exile says it longer than any other speech ...
