Ercole Patti. Un Letterato al Cinema

This publication is an attempt to reconstruct the multiple relationships that the intellectual Ercole Patti has experienced with cinema with the aim of highlighting a number of aspects considered marginal with respect to his literary vocation. One discovers that Patti's interest in the tenth muse is realised through all the possible creative spheres that cinema offered: from the writing of screenplays and original subjects, to the transposition of theatrical texts, to the long practice of film criticism, to the direction of a weekly film review, to the cinematographical contaminations that numerous pages of his literary work contain, as well as his sentimental life and his biography. And an occasional and fleeting appearance in some films. Patti is thus fully inserted in the entourage of those intellectuals, like Flaiano, Alvaro, his compatriot Brancati, Moravia, Marotta, etc, who have lived out the experience of cinema without losing their own identity as writers, in a continuing interchange of cultural and life experiences between the two forms of expression
