This book provides a survey of both expressive and applied art created from 1885 to 1935 as based on objects in the collection of the Drents Museum. This was a true heyday in the history of Dutch art, the importance of which is scarcely less than that of the Dutch Golden Age of the 17th century. Characteristic of this period was that many artists were involved in multiple spheres of activity, usually driven by a wish to reach a wider public than the wealthy elite.
