Original illustrated dust-jackets over brown cloth with gold lettering on spines and front covers. Books housed in their original cloth slipcase. Decorative endpapers. This exquisite work documents the unique and spectacular collection of Japanese prints owned by Henri Vever. The volumes comprise not only the prints and drawings that appeared in the two sales (1974 and 1975) but also, those that weren't sold, many of which are of the greatest rarity and have seldom, if ever, been reproduced before. The 970 items, all of which are illustrated, about 69 are in full color, have been arranged chronologically and those in series have been placed in their correct order. Brief notes on the artists, their style of work and environment, as well as on the development of the woodblock print in Japan, link each section. The name of the artist is also shown in Japanese characters. One of 2000 copies, of which this is No.830
