This catalogue is the first partial result of a long-term cooperation: 115 sculptures from a collection of around 350 pieces are presented. The authors have prepared the descriptions directly in front of the objects and have always dealt intensively with the sculptures and the older research on the pieces. The description and art historical classification of each object is accompanied by a scientific marble identification, a complete bibliography and numerous high-quality photographs; these are largely thanks to Gisela Fittschen-Badura, whose photographs were later supplemented by those of László Mátyus and Hans R. Goette during the cataloguing work.
