De huizen van Rietveld

This publication covers all the residences designed by Gerrit Rietveld, each one accompanied by floor plans, views, site drawings, sketches, original photographs and sometimes perspective drawings. Also included is supplementary information, many recent photographs, letters and other documentation material. Where possible, the accompanying text discusses the design process and the contact between the clients and the architect. The idea for the book developed once the author had conceived a plan to visit the houses and discovered that Rietveld had built many more houses than is generally known. Actually, it is astonishing that in comparison with the many writings made about his famous red and blue chair and the Schr246;der House in Utrecht, that a quarter of a century after Rietveld's death, a comprehensive review of his work had still not been published. To satisfy this need in regard to a significant part of his work, a thorough investigation was made to gather together sufficient material to create a book that would be a very comprehensive document.
