Instead of a continuous history, it offers focused studies that open new perspectives on key figures of this remarkable school; among these is the pivotal discovery of an unpublished Crucifixionby Duccio. Its unusual iconography, rooted in Dominican spirituality, illuminates his artistic language and devotional aims, redefining his role in early Trecento Siena.
