Carteggio 1912-1948

For some years the Scuola Normale has been promoting the publication of the correspondence of some of the great xxth century intellectuals who have been students or even eminent professors at the Scuola. Among those stand out the correspondence of D'Ancona, D'Ovidio and Timpanaro - the last named published in 2004 and already in its second edition.

Within this initiative, the corrispondences of Luigi Russo are particularly important, of which the first volume come out in 1997, comprising the exchange of letters with Giovanni Gentile. Now Russo's correspondence with Croce supplements this which covers a period of time between 1912 and 1948. This is a text of particular value because of its reconstruction of Italian culture in the first half of last century, revisited through the intellectual, political and also day-to-day experiences of two exceptional personalities.
