Limericks Illustrated is a collection of 30 limericks written by Matteo Cinelli and illustrated by Ruco. A limerick is a traditional form of short, humorous verse, often marked by its nonsensical or licentious nature, consisting of five lines with a distinct rhyme scheme.
The genre was popularized in the 19th century by Edward Lear, who established the tradition of pairing limericks with illustrations. Inherently transgressive, the limerick often breaks taboos and playfully distorts reality in a whimsical, nonsensical manner.
