This guide is an ideal introduction to the 4th berlin biennial for contemporary art. An exploration of the context of the exhibition is followed by a presentation of the show by the curators Maurizio Cattelan, Massimiliano Gioni, and Ali Subotnick. Background information is given, along with historical details on each of the untraditional venues in which the biennial will take place. Besides the KW Institute for Contemporary Art, in fact, the 4th berlin biennial for contemporary art unfolds in a variety of unconventional spaces and unexpected environments. Short descriptions of each participating artist and his or her work are amplified by details and explanations of the various projects presented in the biennial. An appendix provides biographical and bibliographical information on each artist.
The 4th berlin biennial for contemporary art is curated by Maurizio Cattelan, Massimiliano Gioni, and Ali Subotnick on behalf of the KW Institute for Contemporary Art and funded by the Kulturstiftung des Bundes.
