The obesity problem is a global epidemic, "globesity", of ever increasing proportions. Over one billion people, both in developed and developing countries, are estimated to be obese.
At the same time mininvasive laparoscopic surgery, during the last 20 years, has had a tremendous diffusion world wide.
The combination of these two factors determined a "critical mass" which resulted in the explosion of bariatric surgery, with an exponential growth in the last 10 years.
In parallel the need of information by the public has continuously increased.
This booklet is an ambitious attempt to satisfy both surgeons, with specific technicalities and, with more general easy and accessible notions, the general population who may found some answers to the many questions they have.
