The catalog documents not just an exhibition, but a project: Terza Terra (Third Earth) Michelangelo Pistoletto and Cittadellarte at Villa Manin For a few months, the villa in Passariano will host some of Michelangelo Pistoletto's most significant works, starting with the Quadri specchianti (Mirror paintings) and ending with the Sfera di giornali (Sphere of newspapers), the Metro cubo d'infinito (Cube of infinity), the Venere degli stracci (Venus of rags) and others, and the Third Paradise in botanical form created in the park. In addition to being milestones in the art history of the last century, the works bear witness to Pistoletto's journey towards an ethical conception of art as a tool for social involvement and progress. Yet, Villa Manin is not only the venue for the exhibition rendered by the images collected here, but also an interpreter of the spirit of Cittadellarte, the foundation created by Pistoletto in Biella where art, ethics and social commitment intertwine. In addition to the images of Pistoletto's works, the catalog also includes those of artists who at Cittadellarte, but also in Friuli Venezia Giulia, have interpreted the spirit of the exhibition with creations that aim to raise public awareness on the over-exploitation of resources, responsible consumption, respect for the environment, etc. The 'Demopraxia' forum, according to the neologism coined at Cittadellarte, is also taking place at Villa Manin around the aforementioned themes: a program of public meetings that, in the spirit of the exhibition, aims at directly involving all the players in the territory. This volume bears witness to this.
