Oil Paintings in Public Ownership in Edinburgh, I

This volume, the first of three Edinburgh catalogues addresses three significant collections, each with diverse holdings. From Dutch landscape masters to Scottish colourists; from Domenichino and della Vecchia to Bellany and Howson. Covered in this first volume are the City of Edinburgh Council, the University of Edinburgh and Historic Scotland's Edinburgh pictures. Each collection is diverse, and each collection is both historically significant and contemporarily relevant, adding to the rich tapestry of culture in venues throughout Edinburgh, from the Castle to the Zoo, from Trinity House to the King's Buildings.
