Gian Carozzi.

A monograph dedicated to the pictorial production of Gian Carozzi, an interesting figure of the Italian artistic scene of the Second World War. Protagonist of the Ligurian post-war artistic scenario, Gian Carozzi (La Spezia 1920-Sarzana 2008) between 1949 and 1950 moved to Milan, where he came into contact with Lucio Fontana and signed two posters of Spatialism, the 3rd Manifesto of Space Art (1951 ) and the Manifesto of the Space Movement for Television (1952). After an intense season of work and attendance, in the late fifties leaves Milan for Paris, where he stays for about twenty years, then return to his native places in the late seventies. In the early eighties he settled in Sarzana, a Ligurian town where he lived until his last days. From the Sixties Carozzi continues a lonely journey, exploring a research that never boils down to a unique stylistic figure, albeit cohesive around a profound continuity of thought, through an uninterrupted investigation into painting. A painting that puts in crisis the definitions and vapes the boundaries: between abstract and figurative, between avant-garde and inactuality. This monograph, promoted by the archive Gian Carozzi and curated by Lara Conte, traces the entire creative story of the artist. It consists of critical contributions by Giulia Carozzi, Lara Conte, Fabrizio D'Amico, Andrea Marmori and Alberto Salvadori; of a critical anthology with texts by Luca Bertolo, Manlio Cancogni, Beniamino Joppolo and Roberto Tassi; And a detailed bio-bibliographical register.
