Né en 1933 à Lausanne, il arrive à Vallauris en 1956 et se lie d'amitié avec de nombreux artistes arrivés dans le midi après la Seconde Guerre mondiale à la suite de Picasso.
Après 10 ans de travail pour différents céramistes (Fernande Kohler, Robert Pérot, Roger Capron,...), il ouvre son propre atelier en 1966.
Il obtient une Médaille d'or en 1968, à la première Biennale de céramique de Vallauris, puis une autre Médaille d'or au Concours International de céramique de Faenza en 1977.
Il travaille tout d'abord la terre de Vallauris puis en 1972 achète un four à grès et affine sa production en utilisant le grès et la porcelaine.
A partir de 1983, il modifie de nouveau son travail en réalisant des céladons inspirés par les céramiques des Song.
Au long de sa carrière, Roger Collet a souvent collaboré avec des proches amis comme le peintre André Cottavoz, les céramistes Albert Thiry, Paolo Boni, Francis Crociani, ... Ce catalogue d'exposition souhaite rendre hommage à Roger Collet, disparu en décembre 2008.
