The work is a reprint of a paper that has been out of print for some time. It comprises two volumes and one CD (containing the reproduction of 22 charts which bear witness to the very high standards of Italian military cartography). It is of particular interest as it is the result of thousands of interviews, reconnaissance missions and analyses conducted by the Board of Enquiry appointed to examine the real causes of the defeat at Caporetto. The first part describes the key events, whilst the second analyses the causes of responsibility for the events. Almost a century after it first appeared, the work remains one of the most interesting published on the Great War, and deserves to be used and distributed on a large scale.
