Nari Ward. Ground Break

Published on the occasion of the exhibition at Pirelli HangarBicocca, the monograph presents the most up-to-date studies of Nari Ward's work, exploring in depth aspects related to the idea of performativity, collaboration, sound and time-based practices. The catalog includes extensive photographic documentation of the works exhibited, along with critical essays by curator Jessica Bell Brown, curator Dieter Roelstraete and writer Christina Sharpe. The volume also contains thematic contributions that delve into ideas and concepts explored in the retrospective, written by international scholars and critics including Naomi Beckwith, Adrienne Edwards, Chiara Lupi, Giovanna Manzotti, Tatiana Palenzona, Teodora di Robilant, and Bianca Stoppani. Completing the catalog is an interview by the curators, Roberta Tenconi and Lucia Aspesi, with the artist and a conversation between Ward and choreographer Ralph Lemon about their collaboration in the Geography Trilogy project (1997-2004).
