The history of Neen started as a game in May 2000, when an artist paid 100,000$ to a California Branding Company in order to produce a name for a new Contemporary Art Movement. During a press conference at the Gagosian Gallery in Manhattan the new word jump-out from the squeaky voice of a Sony, that made the announcement. The word was Neen, which intentionally rhymes with "screen". Tutelary deity of the Neen Movement, that grows up healthy by virtue of the participation of lots of artists and groups of them, is the Greek artist Milton Manetas. This is the first book published on Neen.
