Pier Luigi Meneghello (Vicenza, 1952) has had a long and fascinating career. His rigorous and lucid working methods have led him to new forms of photographic expression. But Meneghello also builds, draws, writes, sketches, glues and paints-and then, almost as if he preferred not to be associated with these activities, he photographs the whole, thus presenting a sophisticated meditation on the evershifting border between the natural and the artificial.
This time Meneghello has chosen the Turin-Milan high-speed railway as a site for installations that are intended as kind of interlude in the midst of this immense construction zone. The tableau we glimpse from the motorway becomes a theatrical backdrop waiting for something to happen. This is where the works originate, where Meneghello, juxtaposing written words and images, creates a bridge that links the task of planning with that of reflection-a bridge to use for our daily crossings from our interior world to the outside world of the imagination.
