Primary revisits the light-hearted innocence of our elementary school years. Created by the artist as a work of art in itself, the book can be entered and explored like an installation. Inside, the visitor will find a web of indelible images that have been spontaneously reworked with tracing paper and photographs.
Valerio Berruti appropriates a collective topos, excavating the sedimentation of memory; he deconstructs the most banal iconography and with it hypothesizes another way of seeing. Themes reverberate among drawings, sketches, notes, and especially unaltered photos, reconsidered here as oil pastels and frescos that are at once gentle and harsh.
