John Lovett (USA 1962) and Alessandro Codagnone (Italy 1967) have worked together since 1995.
Their practice encompasses a range of media that includes photography, sculpture, video, installation and performance. Throughout their oeuvre, the artists remain ever-present protagonists whose ironic role-playing unmasks the socially defined function of power in interpersonal relationships.
This book documents the entire creative evolution of Lovett/Codagnone, from their earliest works in which they critically responded to the assimilation of gay culture by mass aesthetic consumption (fashion, music, entertainment), to their latest performances that reflect upon identity and the inadequacy of language with respect to the complexity of relationships.
