TV Dinner documents an important installation at Boston's Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum by Maurizio Cannavacciuolo. The Italian artist's first museum exhibition in the U.S., TV Dinneris an intricately patterned site-specific wall draw-ing, executed in two parts, which contains hidden narratives about the museum's col-lection and legendary founder as well as ele-ments characteristic of Cannavacciuolo's personal myths and low-key humor.
The book documents the five-month installa-tion and surveys Cannavacciuolo's earlier works. Essays include an examination of the process by which Cannavacciuolo created this monumental yet ephemeral work and a consideration of his wider eouvre with par-ticular attention to the role of performance and patterning in his art.
