Edited by Marco Chiarini, former director of Palazzo Pitti's Galleria Palatina and renowned expert of Italian paintings and drawings, this publication presents for the first time the entire collection of draw-ings belonging to the Roumanian Academy, Bucarest. This remarkable collection which was originally built and donated by George Oprescu - a leading figure of the early XXth century Romanian cultural scene - and later supplemented by various bequests, was never before thoroughly studied and cata-logued. This catalogue, which is sumptuously illustrated with over 400 photographs, at least half of which are in colour, analyses every drawing in the collection, including those that had been previously attributed to other schools and which are now believed to be part of the collection. The catalogue ac-companies the travelling exhibition in Florence (March 2005) and Bucarest (summer 2005).
