The seduction of light and the invention of the real, a wide selection of paintings completed between the second half of the 19th and first decades of the 20th centuries by painters on Italian territory, with special attention for Tuscan painters, representative of that strange sensitivity for light developed by the research of the "macchiaiola" painters and the figurative painting that was subsequently influenced by this style.
Amongst the names on show there are some already widely historicised like Giovanni Boldini, Vincenzo Cabianca, Leonetto Cappiello, Galileo Chini, Giovanni Fattori, Oscar Ghiglia, Francesco Mancini, Francesco Paolo Michetti, Plinio Nomellini, and Alberto Pasini, as well as "lesser masters" ready to be rediscovered.
A journey through the colours of the land and sea, through pastures, beaches, and pinewoods, in the sincere and enchanted landscapes of a timeless Italy. An intimate journey through the quotidian, under the sun that lights the work of the humble, a journey taking us past land labourers, fishermen, and cattle herdsmen, to the quiet shadow of bourgeois interiors, amidst cut flowers and placid portraits: images of a distant past that is nevertheless familiar, frequently kept in private collections where contemporary visual research still recognises its own roots.
