The title of the show, Il rigore dell'ambiguità, The Rigour of Ambiguity, expresses the basis of the artist's research which is aimed at finding a constant value for pinpointing a critical and operative method through the use of modified mathematics.
Grignani himself said in an interview that "I am afraid of obviousness, banality, what has already been done, nonsense".
And so he devoted his whole life to the continuous analysis of vision and the experimentation of scientific materials which he used to structure and obtain, as Dorfles has said, "A kind of intersubjective communication of highly expressive or even, we might say, dramatically expressive elements".
The works on show reconstruct Franco Grignani's artistic path, from the experiments with sub-perception to his industrial glassware, his moiré, vibrations, radial permutations, numerical operations, and diachronic analyses; and we could continue with the recurrences, dissociations, psycho-plastics, psycho-structures, hidden diagonals and, finally, the hyperbolic structures.
