An American pioneer in conceptual art, for over forty years Dennis Oppenheim was among the undisputed champions of a generation of revolutionary artists. All a little crazy, they were engaged but at the same time mocking and disenchanted, expressing themselves with the utmost freedom from outside, around and beyond the idea of an artistic object. They were artists who experimented much in terms of operating methods, preferring the ephemeral experience of the action to making traditional and lasting objects.
Through the beauty of his designs, Oppenheim revealed to us his inexhaustible energy of invention and his willingness to think big, even changing the landscape and the urban environment to bring art into the daily lives of everyone around.
