Ponti collaborated with interior designer Nino Zoncada, and a multitude of artists and artisans on some of the greatest Italian ocean liner designs of the 1950s. The liners Conte Grande', Conte Biancamano', Giulio Cesare' and Andrea Doria' sailed around the world for a short period, yet were quickly relegated to obsolescence through the rise of air travel. Despite their unique designs these ships have remained forgotten up until now. Designs and interiors, along with the work of Gio Ponti, are brought to new life here through more than 200 illustrations and photographs, and exploratory essays.
