The Collection and the Workshop of the Galleria Borghese in Rome are attended by students of all ages
who, together with their teachers, are invited to a close-up reading of the work of art and its subsequent
"dismantling". The enthusiasm and earnestness with which these experimental encounters are followed
have convinced the heads of the museum and
the organisers to make this lively and stimulating
experience public, publishing a series of volumes.
This first dossier is dedicated to paint. The
activities began in 1998 and the success of this
multipurpose workshop is a further endorsement
of the importance of the central role of the museum
in educating people about their cultural heritage
and the relaying of an historical-artistic
memory to future generations. The richly illustrated
dossier ranges from the invention of color, its
perceptions and symbolism, to interviews with
famous contemporary artists, and is intended to
kindle the curiosity and imagination, fostering a
desire to learn more about art.
