The Illustrated Building Dictionary contains terminology used in architecture, construction history, styles and decorations, building technology, machinery and tools, materials and their treatment, urban and traffic planning, as well in transactions with authorities and the implementation of projects.The Dictionary contains the entire central vocabulary of the building sector explained and translated from English to Finnish and from Finnish to English; from words that are in daily use to more specialised terminology, from established concepts to professional slang. Precise plans, sections, facades and axonometric drawings, presented as line drawings, have been made specifically for the book, with the purpose of clarifying concepts that are difficult to describe only verbally.
The pictures show building types, building materials, tools and equipment, urban and traffic planning concepts and historical styles as well as illustrate both traditional and contemporary building techniques.
