Water has particular role in gardens and it has always been used, in every period of history and in every culture. The book examines over fifty of Marco Pozzoli's works in which water is of fundamental chronological order, starting from 1970. His creations are conceiveded as "garden ? sculpture" and they show his infinite skill in bringing out the many qualities of water. The vegetation, the stone materials and the land are treated as compositional elements, and water, an aesthetic, formal and characteristic element of the mediterranean culture, is nearly always introduced, to varying extents and in various forms. The designs are always inspired by the particular characteristics of the sites, and so the ideas are always different and original. The accurate choice of the materials is fundamental for the formal qualification of the space and for the creation of refined material effects.
The book is divided into two sections: in the first one original fountains, formal pools, fantastic ornamental waterworks and natural ponds express the feeling of motion and sound, the fascination of transparency, drawing the attention to the indoor spaces; in the second part elegant variform swimming pools merge with the sea line or blend into the countryside in an amazing expansion of the atmospheric space.
