Inspired by the words of the unfinished novel Mount Analogue by French author René Daumal, A Contemporary Art Experience traces an idea of art back to a constant research and exploration. Drawing on an account of the events surrounding the staging of Standart 2017 - Triennial of Contemporary Art in Armenia, the novel by Christian Oxenius develops a fictional narrative in which the experience of art becomes the binding factor of a group of artists in a journey through Armenia.
Christian Oxenius is a German-Italian author, curator and researcher. His main field of interest are biennials and other large-scale exhibitions, which he studied extensively at the Institute of Cultural Capital of the University of Liverpool.
A Contemporary Art Experience is his first novel, written in an attempt to seek a new language to discuss critically about contemporary art and its position in today's world. He now lives and works between Athens, Istanbul and Germany. Board member of ART for The World, guest curator at Kunsthalle Osnabrück, he collaborates with various other cultural institutions throughout Europe.
