For a year Jacopo Brancati shared the life of the mariners in the port of Genoa, one of the major in Europe. Through his photographs he caught the work and the very peculiar atmosphere of this "city within the city". His reportage stands as an impressive witness to the knowledge, skills and life of pilots, tugmen and mooring men who under all weather condition, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, manoeuvre and give assistance to some 20.000 ships entering the port every year.

Jacopo Brancati, photo reporter specialised in maritime ethnology, he works with some European maritime museums. He lives in France; his works are diffused by Infine Arts and Sipa agency.
