Roberto Coda Zabetta (Biella 1975; lives in Milan) is one of the most interesting painters to have emerged in Italy at the end of the nineties. Despite his rather young age, he has achieved important recognition, such as the Young Artist Award at the 2003 edition of Miart and participation in the Preview Section of the XIV Quadriennale d'Arte (Turin 2004). His large canvases, executed with black and white enamels and recently with color, from which shading and chiaroscuro effects are impossible, are elaborated from photos taken and
used as notes-oftentimes from reality, other times from TV images in a random and neurotic process of bundling. As you approach the canvas the image gradually loses its verisimilitude to become action, gesture, sign. In addition to the critical text, this monograph contains a dialogue between the artist and the editor.
