There are images that not only tell the story of an era, but bring it to life. Jim Saah, a photographer from Washington DC, was there to document it. With his camera, Saah closely followed a community of young people who, in the 1980s and 1990s, invented a different way of making music, living, and resisting: hardcore punk. Saah photographed DC hardcore bands like Minor Threat, Faith, and Void, but didn't stop there. He also captured seminal acts such as Iggy Pop, Sonic Youth, Ramones, Talking Heads, and Lou Reed. Over the years his book, In My Eyes, has become a unique testament to that universe of energy, friendship, and creative tension. In My Eyes is not just a book of photographs. Through the lens of the past, it reminds us of the current, urgent need for alternative communities based on creativity, authenticity, and the building of relationships.
